St. Francis College is pleased to host its first Troops to Teachers Conference on Saturday, March 25 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at St. Francis with host Education Professor Peter Leibman, author of Launch a Teaching Career--Secrets for Aspiring Teachers.
This interactive conference is open to any veteran interested in becoming a teacher. Attendees will learn where the jobs are, how to market yourself effectively, how to write a great broadcast letter to get you sn interview, how to network effectively, how to ace the interview and more.
"With the retirement of so many baby-boomers there is definitely a teacher shortage," said Professor Leibman. "The areas of science, math, ESL, technology, physical education, special education, guidance counseling and psychologist are disciplines with the greatest need."
The St. Francis College education department is placing graduates in full-time teaching positions in record numbers. In the past seven years over 200 graduates have secured teaching positions at the childhood, junior high, and high school levels. Nine recent graduates are now deans and one is a school principal.
This Troops to Teachers Conference gives that same inside support. Veterans can email Dr. Leibman at firstname.lastname@example.org or call him directly at (718) 489-5282 to reserve a spot.
